About brain checkup

The purpose of brain checkups is early detection of stroke.
A brain checkup is a test to detect brain diseases such as stroke and brain tumors. Among these, the main purpose is to detect strokes that can be life-threatening at an early stage. The main tests are head MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and head MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiography), but depending on the test plan, we may also combine carotid artery ultrasound, neck MRA, CT, etc. You can do it. In particular, the risk of cerebrovascular disease increases in your 40s and 50s, so it is recommended that you see a doctor once you reach the age of 40.

Importance of inspection
There are two main types of stroke: cerebral ischemia, which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures, and cerebral hemorrhage, which occurs when a blood vessel in the brain ruptures. Cerebral infarction, a type of stroke caused by cerebral ischemia, is caused by blood vessel blockage, while subarachnoid hemorrhage is cerebral hemorrhage caused by blood vessel rupture. Both diseases damage brain cells and nerve cells, so even if you survive the onset of symptoms, you may be left with after-effects such as paralysis or speech impediments. Therefore, early risk assessment is very important.
Since cerebrovascular diseases often have mild subjective symptoms, brain check-ups may discover "asymptomatic lacunar infarctions'' and "unruptured cerebral aneurysms.'' Asymptomatic lacunar infarction is a lacunar infarction in which very small blood vessels are blocked, but no symptoms appear. Usually, lacunar infarction itself is not considered to be a problem, but there is a high possibility that symptoms will appear in the future. Therefore, it is important to detect these conditions early and manage them appropriately.

Cases in which a brain checkup is recommended
Age is one of the criteria for undergoing a brain checkup, but there are cases in which it is better to undergo a brain checkup based on the results of a health checkup or your usual symptoms.
They are over 40 years old and have never had a brain checkup.
Has had a physical examination that indicated the possibility of arteriosclerosis. (e.g., high blood pressure, high blood sugar, lipid abnormalities (hyperlipidemia), hyperuricemia, high cholesterol).
